Lesson 2 of 11 · Build

Build your first obby

An obby (obstacle course) is the perfect first game: platforms, a start and a finish. No code at all.

What you’ll learn

  • insert, move and scale parts
  • fix parts with “Anchored”
  • set a start point and test

Insert and shape parts

In the Home tab click Part to insert a block. Use the Move, Scale and Rotate tools to shape it. Tip: Ctrl+D (Mac: Cmd+D) duplicates a part – a quick way to build a row of platforms.

Important: Anchored

Without Anchored, parts fall down when you play. Select your platforms and tick Anchored in Properties (or click Anchor at the top).

Start and finish

A SpawnLocation (Model tab → Spawn) is the starting point. Keep the gaps between platforms small at first – test with ▶ whether every jump is possible. Give the finish a bright colour and the Neon material.

🛠️ Try it

Build 6 anchored platforms with small gaps, a start and a colourful finish. Test whether you can reach the end.

🧠 Mini quiz
