Publish your game safely
Your obby is finished? Then show it to friends. Here you learn how to publish – and what to watch out for so you and your players stay safe.
What you’ll learn
- publish a game on Roblox
- check Toolbox models for hidden scripts
- never reveal personal data
Publish
In File → Publish to Roblox you give your game a name and a short description. At first it is private. In Game Settings you can make it public. Roblox also asks you to fill in a questionnaire about the content – answer it honestly.
Be careful with free models
There are thousands of models in the Toolbox. Some contain hidden scripts (“backdoors”) that give strangers control over your game. After inserting a model, check in the Explorer whether it contains scripts. If you don’t understand a script – especially one with require and a long number – delete it.
Your data stays with you
Never put your real name, address, school or phone number into game names, descriptions or signs in your game. Never give anyone your password – not even “helpers” who want to improve your game. Follow the Roblox Community Standards.
🛠️ Try it
Publish your obby privately and test it in the Roblox app. Check every Toolbox model for scripts first.
🧠 Mini quiz
A Toolbox model contains a script with require(123456789) that you don’t understand. What do you do?
Unknown require scripts are a typical sign of backdoors.
Someone wants your password to “improve your game”. What do you do?
Real helpers never need your password – it is a classic trick.
